In the old iOS you were able to see the description for each individual podcast.  I listen to NPR's Most E-Mailed Stores podcast often and like to see what the different stories in the episode are. I can see the podcast description (e.g., this is NPR's Most Emailed Stories!) - but not the contents of each individual episode (e.g., 1. Big fish caught in the lake! 2. Financial Meltdown. etc...).  Is there a setting that I'm missing?  Or was this feature removed in iOS6?  On my old iPod Classic I can still see the episode description.

ETA: I checked in iTunes and there is text in the description field for each podcast episode.  So the question is how do I make this episode description visible?  I'm using the regular Podcast app that comes with iOS 6.0.2 on the iPhone 5.

Install the Podcasts app from Apple if you have not already. Then, open it, click the podcasts button and select the podcast you want to listen to.  Click the blue arrow (>)  to the right of the episode you want to read the description of.  Hope this helps!

I have the exact same issue, and it bugs me. If you look under the 'Get Info' option in iTunes (right-click > get info), or if you have the colum 'Description' shown, it's packed with information. When you look at the the 'info' of the pod cast (what zombi3g refers to as clicking the blue arrow), I get some information about the file (type, when added, file size, duration, etc.), and I can mark the episode as played/unplayed. But there is no description of the podcast. I have a 5th generation iPod Nano that I can view this info on, but not the iphone. Annoying. If anyone has a method that we don't know about to view this info, speak up!

    I figured it out.

you have to go into each podcast settings, and turn on subscriptions! and then the description will show up for the episodes. This is still annoying, because it should not have been coded this way. all descriptions for an episode should be viewable without having the podcast subscriptions turned on. I turned off subscriptions, because it uses up my dataplan. Now i have to turn on subscription for any podcast that i want the descriptions. this app is really annoying.

hmm, im at iOS 6.1 already, and that seems to work for me. i even turned subscriptions off for a podcast, and synced podcasts where there are new episodes, and the descriptions came down with it. but i dont know if this will work long term.  sorry jennesy212, im not sure what else to tell you right now.

when you go into podcasts app, go to a specific podcast with several episodes. it should say Episodes at top, and give a list of episodes to play. at the right of each episode title, there is a blue button with a ">" on it. press the blue button, and the description (along with added, duration, size) should be on the next page.
