Q: MacBook Pro Retina display burn-in?

I just bought my Mbp 15" Retina with i7 2,3 8gb, 256gb and i read this thread before i went to the store, i was actually wishing for a LG screen, due to the yellow issue and incorrect colors on samsung panels.

I have been trying to force this issue ever since i bought it, left it for 7 hours when i went to bed and no issues, no burn in or anything.

My display is a LG with built serie: DCN23950. But i guess the problem can start within a week aswell so i dont know yet if its faulty but hopefully not. Got 30-days free to return it to the store if thats the case so i will try and force this problem for the next 28 days.

Love the retina, its so amazing. I had a 11" Macbook Air and after using this for 2 days i cant stand the display on the Air, looks soo bad!

I had 243 series and my IR was at low brithness... at full brithness it disappear at all very slow and IR test at full brithness had no effect.

The problem is when you use the notebook on the sofa with no light so 50% brithness is enough.

For Samsung there is a yellow tint on all screen and yellow tinge on some display area... it seems you have a dirty screen.

Betwwen samsung and lg i prefer LG color and a little IR if it will not become worst.

Between Apple and other manufacture i prefer WHO will be serius... because no quality controll isn't absurd on this kind of machine.

Is so difficult make a post production test just on display that can be what people want? I think no...

And i think it's more expensive change 3-4-5-6 display that make just a controll before send it.

Maybe you can say:"costs are the same"... well... but negative advertising Apple is doing by itself i think have no price!!! What i mean? This and other thred? no!!! I mean people at work, at university and so on that say : Oh my God!!! That's a 2500 euro pc? And that yellow zone?

I'm sayng nothing... but inside i suffer... 2500 euro and i use it with awareness that i have a defect display. It's so frustrating... really!

It's incorrect... but you are lucky and you won the lottery!

I know some defect screen can be normal for a company but.... defect on defect into warranty i think isn't so normal...

I have also got a samsung display, it is a bit warmer than my 2011 17" mbp, but there is no yellowish tint or any sort of problems on it.

Actually it is more natural than my previous mbp.

The colour adjustment and accuracy is perfect.

Samsung here no color issues no tinting nothing .. The colors look more natural on my samsung screen compared to the LG's ive seen in store .

Just see if your white is homogeneous. Open google and see if all the page is white or there is a yellow zone

Googles home page is not actually true white, it measures about a 6650K color temp (instead of 6500K), so its a little on the warm side of pure white.  If you use Safari you can actually see the difference in the address bar which is 100% white.  This is probably more noticable on my Xrite calibrated display. 

You would be better off opening the white desktop backround to view where the yellowish color areas are, It measures about 6550K versus my Xrite generated pure 6500K white point which I measure as 6507K. In other words, even if your display is not calibrated the desktop backround  'white' is closer to nuetral than the google homepage white (viewed in safari which is color managed).

Just curious if you can see the difference on this page in the white level between this textbox and the immediate surrounding white area outside this box?  This box is slightly whiter than the adjacent white area outside this box.  If not it may be the accuracy of the Xrite gamma curve calibration of grayscales and nothing to do with whitpoint levels.

I actually measured the white point values on this page with my Xrite sensor on my rMBP and on my NEC 27" Multisync Pro RGB monitor (running a 100% sRGB color profile).  Surprisingly this text box measures an average of ~6650K, the area outside this box averages ~6750K and the 'sidebar' area averagess ~6850K.  So if nothing else it shows you how signifcant the differences are between ~100K color temp differences are.  All the measurements on both displays were made viewing this page in Safari, measured at center screen at 150cd brightness (4 steps from full brightness). 

No diff in color no yellow zone ??

I just want to say that white 6500k or white 6600k it's no matter when you see a yellow zone!!!

Ok use a white background... is it homogeneous? Or just use a simple white file at full screen. That's all...

I don't mean calibration.... i mean something like white that at full screen is no homogeneous.

My original rMBP has a Samsung screen with a very minimal yellow tinge on the lower right side really only noticable on a white or light background. It doesn't change with calibration (Apple tool) and hasn't changed since purchase in July. I wouldn't return the computer for this reason and love it otherwise, but have to say my eyes are always drawn there just like a tongue to a rough tooth as someone said earlier and of course I would prefer if it wasn't there.
