If the format of your music is wma then you cannot sync them to itunes as this is a proprietary windows format.
Instead you can convert them to mp3, aac, Apple Lossless and they will then sync and play on your phone
If you are on windows the itunes will do this for you at the time of import and create an aac version in itunes but leave your windows files untouched

Hi Steve & thanks. Most of my music are wav files which I think an Iphone will play. What I'm trying to avoid is recopying 1tb of files & wasting that HDD space. If I can't get Itunes to use the Win7 library, then I may have to select & transfer only that music to be used on the Iphone 16gb. Just more muck'in around! Thanks for your rely. Geoff.
