I am noticing that whenever cellulare data is turned on it is counting as usage time. For example I charged my phone fully last night and right now I show 5 hours 48 minutes of usage time and 5 hours 48 minutes of standby time. I have made about 10 minutes of phone calls during that time and sent 1 text. I am at 14% battery left right now.

I too am noticing excessive usage time. My phone was fully charged when I unplugged it at 7:45am today. It says I have used 4 hours and 4 minutes since last charge, 7 hrs 26 min Standby and 3 hrs 15 min call time. None of these times make sense except maybe standby (is standby considered total time since charge or is it in addition to usage time, because if you add the two together I have not even been awake that long yet today.)
I have only used the phone today for about 20-30 minutes total...!?!? I hope I don't end up with a $5000 cell phone bill this month due to data overages that I'm not actually using!

I too am getting the significant battery drain.
I've tried all the options and nothing works!!
Apple you are failing to provide quality products. This is not the first time.
Stop with your magical and revolutionary talk and start producing that instead!
This is clearly a SOFTWARE issue. So how about you get your software developers into a room and get cracking on a solution!

same battery draining issue here on an iPhone 4S.
Also tried to identify what this is caused by.
What I found is that also since the 6.1 update I am having significantly lower reception quality with my provider. Where I before used to have 2-4 bars I now have 0-2.
Also when performing the manual cell network search the wheel keeps turning and turning without any result after 10 minutes. Usage log doens't show anything but two strokes and the message that it will initially show me data after the phone has been fully charged. No need to mention it got already fully charged several times.
I also tried all the solutions listed here in this thread - no change at all.
When I try to reset my network settings the fields don' get blanked.
Anyone else having similar symptoms?
Unfortunately couldn't reach the tech support today because I cam back from work too lately.

I, too, experienced massive battery drain after updating to ios 6.1. After trying several suggestions listed here, I finally bit the bullet and went in to the Apple Store. The tech told me it was likely due to Microsoft Exchange, which I am tied into on my phone, to read email and calendar items from work.
Indeed, after, removing the old Exchange connection, and creating a new one, the problem seems to have gone away. If you are also seeing the battery drain problem, and you are connecting to Exchange, you may want to consider this could be the cause.
On the other hand, a friend of mine at work also connects to Exchange, and he saw no issues after the ios 6.1 update. So not everyone using Exchange is having problems after the update.. And if you have the problem and don't connect to Exchange, hopefully one of the other tips here will fix your problem.

That makes a lot of sense that Exchange is a culprit.
I get a ton of email through Exchange. Also, I frequently see my entire Exchange inbox disapear and reload as if the entire mailbox needs to be reset. I have removed the Exchange mail box and will post back my findings.
I have tried to reset the network connection and that didn't have any effect on my iphone 5 / ios 6.1. Still drained fomr 100% to 75% in 1 hour with no use.

Have anyone heard from Apple support team yet? So far alot of people here scramle try to fix the problems ourself by reset this and reset that but so far I'm couldn't find or heard anything from the support team. This is very bad way of treating your customers Apple, my wife Iphone5 need to charge twice a day and same goes for Ipad4 and barely being use. Come on Apple release some kind of statement or show us how to fix the god **** you causes, I'm tried every suggestion in this thread and still nothing help, I'm really **** off at Apple right now.

Just went to the Apple store and can confirm that ALL email accounts are the problem.
- Delete all email accounts. (inc Exchange, iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo etc)
- Turn off phone (hold power button down to swtich off)
- Turn on phone
- Wait 15 minutes to see if power is draining. Hold phone to check temp of phone.
- If battery drain is not occuring anymore, add email accounts again
- Battery should be back to normal

I got excited about the email solution hoping it would work but I quickly found it didn't work for me.
I deleted all of my email accounts until there was no email on the phone. I took the phone with me tonight to drive my daughter to a class. Upon leaving the house I had 22% battery, I did not use the phone at all while I was gone, I returned home 20 minutes later to find my phone had gone down to 16% in 20 minutes with no email accounts on the phone and no other use of the devise during that time. My battery drains very fast both on wifi and cellular but the battery consumption seems accelerated even more so when on the cellular network...

Apple say something to us, come on! I agree with Acer38! There are tons of news reports on this. 15,000 people have visited this discussion in the last few days and there are also other variations of this same discussion on this site! This is obviously a problem for many of your customers. At least let us know you are working on this and when we might expect a fix. Is it a matter of days or months? Apple left me and thousands of others hanging for 5 months with the "Verizon time and date issue" and never once commented or apologized for the 5 months of inconvenience we endured! Should my wife and I go reactivate our old phones or will this be fixed soon?

This worked for me. I removed my Exchange account. Waited about an hour to make sure battery drain was back to normal. I lost about 4% in an hour with negligible use. Then I re-added Exchange with the default settings. So far so good.

Yeah, mine has been working about 10 hours now after the Exchange fix. No longer hot to the touch, and back to the way it was before the 6.1 update.
Sorry it didn't work for everyone. If you are still having problems after trying the suggestions here, and live near an Apple Store, I strongly recommend taking the phone in. They can probably diagnose the problem fairly quickly.
