What is the best method for syncing iCloud and Google calendars (and contacts)?

I have it partially working from my iPhone, but I get a lot of duplicates. It used to work from my Mac Mini, but now they no longer seem to sync. I just bought a new MBP and iCloud works great between all three, but Google syncing is still a mystery. I've tried various other sources on the web, including the Google help pages, but I either get a ton of duplicates or it doesn't work at all.

They are two separable services that do not communicate.  If you want data from one to the other, you need to manually export/import.

It's not supposed to work. Both Google and iCloud do the same thing in the same way. Choose which service you want to use and stick to that one.

What you're attempting to do is like having an email account from Yahoo and one from Gmail and then wanting them both to contain exactly the same messages and mailboxes. It just doesn't work like that.

Either stick to one or use both but for separate purposes (e.g. Work and Home) but they'll remain independent.
