I run XP as a virtual machine using Parallels Desktop. Works like a champ. Unfortunately, got a message from my uni today saying that MS is only going to support XP for 14 more months... oh, well, I've been teasing myself into a Win 7 upgrade, anyway...

WinXP is no longer supported in the Lions to install on BootCamp. But it can live happily in the virtualized world, especially since it is for a Finance program and not a game.

I have a Windows collection running on VMWare Fusion: WinME, Win2000, WinXP, Win7 and even a Win2008Server I bummed from somewhere.  You can probably do it in the cheap by running Oracle VirtualBox, that goes for free. Good luck procuring a WinXP activation key nowadays....

You might look on the Bootcamp discussions.

I just upgraded Parallels to Parallels 8 so it could run in Mountain Lion. I think I saw something about it not supporting XP.

I'm confused by what you said about Bootcamp. Do you already have Win 7 installed in it?

I can't remember whether you can have more than 1 Bootcamp partition or not. But again, check on the Bootcamp discussions.

Parallels 8 runs XP just fine... in the next couple of months, I'll upgrade to Win 7 as most of my newest software will only run, at a minimum, on Win 7. But, for now, I'm keeping older versions and running XP (there's a really annoying bug in Office 2013 with Adobe Acrobat XI that's keeping me from upgrading now).

Clinton don't worry about MS not supporting XP anymore. It is still one of the BEST MS OSs ever written (Win 7 being equal to XP in stability and usability). Just becasue they won't issue any more updates for it doesn't mean it can't still be used for YEARS to come.
