Q: Ical can´t save the event "event name" to the exchange server

I have been trying to set up iCal to work with exchange in several Macs runnig Snow Leopard but there seems to be some time zone issue.

When I try to save a new event, I get a error: iCal can't save the event "event name" to the exchange server. The account "account name" currently can't be modified, to discard...       If I change the city in time zone preferences to anything outside Mexico (for example Dallas Tx.) then everything works perfect, the problem is all of my users are in Mexico City aund using CST instead may cause other problems.

I have tried with time zone support enabled and also disabled.

Something very odd is that existing events can be modified or deleted, even with the city set to Mexico in time zone preferences.

¿Any suggestions?

    Sorry for not posting the solution..

    Please do as follows to solve the problem:

    This solves the problem with Mexico Standard Time, if you have another time zone not working, you can see this solution and addapt it to your time zone..

    On the CAS Server, open note pad, paste the following text and save it as: FixTZiCal.reg  , then doble click on the reg file and make sure Windows adds it to the registry.

    Text to copy:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Time Zones\Mexico Standard Time]
    "MUI_Display"="@tzres.dll,-170"
    "MUI_Dlt"="@tzres.dll,-171"
    "MUI_Std"="@tzres.dll,-172"
    "Display"="(UTC-06:00) Guadalajara, Mexico City, Monterrey"
    "Dlt"="Mexico Daylight Time"
    "Std"="Mexico Standard Time"
    "TZI"=hex:68,01,00,00,00,00,00,00,c4,ff,ff,ff,00,00,0a,00,00,00,05,00,02,00,00,\
      00,00,00,00,00,00,00,04,00,00,00,01,00,02,00,00,00,00,00,00,00

    Thanks for posting the solution. However it seems that it should be applied to a Windows server rather than the local compiter (in my case an iMac and a MacBook Air). Any option for the local computers? I use iCal in both of them with an Office 365 account (Exchange). Thanks for your help.

    I do not know any solution that could be applied to the MAC OS..... Maybe calling Microsoft and telling our solution, but I am not so sure they will listen, applying this to all their servers..... is your time zone Mexico as well?, I do have an annoying work around is you like.

    Yes my time zone is Mexico as well. If you could share the other work around I would appreciate it very much!

    Ok, on iCal use Laredo, McAllen, San Antonio, or Houston time zone... it´s the same as in Mexico, the problem is that in the US the time zone changed two weeks before or after Mexico, so you will have an error in the time in that time frame, so what I do is that in that two weeks I use the time zone from Guatelama..... heheheh So, always use Houston time zone, and in between the change, use Guatemala time zone....  it´s not a good workaround, but you can get used to.... my problem was that I could not tell the CEO to make does changes, he went crazy...

    Hope this helps,

    La solución que mencionas funciona. No logro entender como es que en el iPhone y el iPad todo vaya bien (iOS) y en Mac OSX no, espero que Apple tenga una solución real ha este problema.

    I am receiving the same error message constantly (for two weeks now) and I have selected each option provided  Revert to Server, Try Again or Ignore and the error message continues to pop up.  The error message of "Calendar can't save event."......"..to the Exchange Server.  There was an error attempting to save your changes to the exchange server.  I've read every single post in this thread regarding this issue and have tried the solutions provided.  (1) Change the time zone (2) shut off the time zone and I may have missed something but these didn't work and frankly I don't understand how or why the time zone setting is related to it.  I am using iCal Version 7.0 on OSX 9.0 on a MacBook Pro.  I am in the PST (Pacific Standard Time) zone. Has anyone else experienced this issue recently in the PST and have they resolved it?   If so, can you post your solution? Or is there another conversation thread that has the solution that someone can direct me to?  Thank you!

    i tried the cache, changing timezones, etc. (im in mexico, and this issue occurs with mexico central standard time zones) i still have the problem.

    the only workaround i have is: if i choose a central standard time zone near the US (border cities) it works.

    but the directors doesnt want a workaround, so if anyone made a "custom" timezone or edited a timezone in exchange please let me know.

    by the way, this post worked for exchange 2010, but i have 2013, and the same solution cant be applied to the two versions.
