The only way to change that format is Settings>General>International>Region Format

Thats how the iPhone display's numbers you can't change that, and it does not effect your calls in any way.

I ever tryed to set up Region Format to UK, US and China HK or China, but the blank space in phone number was not changed. really frustion about this. example: one UK phone number is 00 44 xxxx xxxxxx., i want to change it like 0044xxxxxxxxxx. how to achieve that, thanks!!!

    Why does it matter?

It matters to me! I use an Access database with an app for my iPhone to manage business contact info. I prefer to use an xxx-xxx-xxxx format for my database because using (xxx) xxx-xxxx is more to type into a search field.  This is an alphanumeric field, as it also contains email addresses and social media aliases. I would prefer to be able to copy from one field and paste it into another--that would be most convenient--but now, I still have to go back and remove the parentheses.

I wish that Apple would simply change phone number formats to xxx-xxx-xxxx for North America. Simplest is always best.
