When copying the Final Cut Event and Final Cut Pro folder from one disc to another (Manually backup and using Carbn Copy Cloner), the events in Final Cut Pro X are moved! This means that my projects can't find the refered event. Help! How to fix it and how to do backup without this happening?!

Final Cut Pro X, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

If you copy files from one drive to another, they are NOT being moved.

What could likely be happening is that FCP X does not take kindly to having two copies of the same event present at the same time. Eject the backup drive before you start FCP X and it should be ok.

Select the missing clip in the timeline.

****-F to select it in the Event browser.

Now, look at the File Info in the Inspector (under the Info Tap) - you might have to enable File info down in the Gear menu in the inspector.

Where does it think the file should be??

The 'Gear' menu, just below the Inspector: Show File Status
