I recently had my Verizon phone unlocked by Verizon so I could use international sim cards while travelling to avoid incurring massive roaming charges.  I am currently living in South Australia and seeked out a Telstra micro sim assuming that a large company such as Telstra must fall into the category of being a compabitible cell phone company for my needs.  I have activated my Telstra SIM card and have received repeated confirmations from Verizon that my phone is unlocked and from Telstra that my SIM is activated.  When I put the Telstra SIM in my iPhone I receive a message stating that the SIM is not valid and I must use a compatible card in order to use my iPhone.

Does anyone have an suggestions for what I should do in this situation.  I am considering going to the store again and speaking with the representative that sold me the card and seeing about getting a replacement card.  Or does Telstra fall under the category of being non compatible, even though I read you can use an unlocked iPhone on either CDMA or GSM network.
