How do I make the ... bubble go away on my iPhone 4s when I'm typing. I don't want the other person to know when I'm texting back until it's sent.

iPhone 4S, iOS 6.1

I don't think that is a feature that you can remove.

I'm not positive here and maybe someone can correct or confirm, but if your turn off Send Read Receipts the bubble might disappear.

Settings > Messages > Send Read Receipts > Off.

The only way to do this is for you to disable iMessage.   Then you will only be sending/receiving SMS texts where that feature won't work.

YOu will no longer have instant chat to other iphone users.  All imessage will be sent as text - which would cost more money depending on your plan.

Depends on your plan (SMS texting vs. data) and whether you want to use iMessgae with iOS devices other than iPhones (if you disable iMessage, you won't be able to).

Personally, since there really isn't anyone I need to text that doesn't use a phone, I don't care about continuing a conversation of the iPad or MBP, and my plan has unlimited texting but a limit on data, I turned it off. Can't say if that would work for you or not.

Settings - Messages - Turn off iMessage

Which means you are now using your texting plan vs imessage
