i am an apple user since 1989. i was always loyal. as a dj and photographer you can imagine that i have terabytes of music and photos on my mac(s). when itunes came out with its first version, i imported hundreds of cds. then the itunes store came and in the meantime i bought tenthousands of songs. i spent a fortune on apple since 1989. but i'm sure apple has lost thousands of loyal fans by introducing all the flashy new useless features and removing the really usefull stuff.

multiple windows for managing playlists or easily browse the itunes store, it's gone. my genius side bar where i found many songs i wouldn't have bought without this - it's gone. and many more useful features are gone now. so i stopped buying at the itunes store - i started downloading youtube vids instead. saves me a lot of money, and time.

any idea where we could start a **** storm on apple?  i'm completely lost with my thousands of songs which i can't manage anymore without these features. i even stopped listening to my music - i don't find the stuff anymore on itunes 11... is this really what apple wants to achieve???

    I am near tears here.
Every question or comment or reply or anything I try to do gets deleted.
Meanwhile there are thousands - yes THOUSANDS of near-identical questions & comments all over this exact wbesite between the windows and the Mac forums and among different subsections.

I am so upset over the near total loss of a decade of music, audiobooks, videos, etc. etc. etc. etc. that I am just kind of floating around just....lost.   Just like thousands of other people.
Only unlike many people here on these forums, my posts are not allowed to stay up.  This has been the only one out of over one dozen that I've written that has not been deleted.

I cannot tell you how careful I have been to not say anything I shouldnt and vice versa.  In fact, I am keeping this as short as possible because at this point I .....
I dont even want to go there.

Oh.  Uhhh to be clear....I'm so ticked off that I thought I was replying to an old post of mine - the only remaining one that hasnt been deleted - and I was actually here.

The really insulting thing is that before this post here was ever made, I made one with a nearly exactly identical title.  And it was taken down.  After it was made I even re-wrote a new thread with a similar title.   It was removed by moderators.  I'm just so angry.  I cant access any of my stuff.  I have typed & typed & typed out all of the problems I'm having so many times that by now I am too tired of doing it, I'm too physically unwell to do it so often and i'm just sick of it in the non-physical sense.  Just "tired" of having my posts deleted when I say nothing wrong.  And now this one will get deleted because I'm explaining about all the deleted posts.  But if I write another post where I dont mention all those....

I would like to know; has Apple acknowledged any of the issues raised here? And other than one failed update to iTunes 11, is there any word on either a fix or them taking us easily back to something that does (did) work?

not impressed with this new version at all. all i want to do is make playlists using genius for my ipod but it won't work like it did on 10. it's slow, clunky and a complete mess compared to the old versions. what is it with these companies thinking that their new or improved product/update is better than the last one? apple have completely f****d itunes up and microsoft have done the same with windows 8.

    Very well said.

There's only one word to summarize IT11:

I must have lost at least 10 IQ points in the 15 minutes I was using that POS. Switched back to 10.7 in a heartbeat.

Personally, I don't mind the new look and feel - but then I don't use iTunes very much.

My gripe is with the whole priciple of being locked out of being able to do anything useful - like manually managing music on more than one PC.  I spend more time at work in front of a computer than I do at home but because of Apples dumb "rules" I can't do much unless I wait until I go home - because I HATE (hear me Apple - HATE) synch.

If I have pictures on another computer or a friend wants to give them to me I have to go through the laborious process of putting the pictures on my home machine and then TRYING to upload them - without losing what I already have.

And don't get me started on trying to manage contacts. When I got my iPhone I managed (eventually) to import my old contacts but they're not "seen" but iCloud.

The new interface is okay but it still has the same terrible problems and flawed/restrictive design.

You're not the only one. They just deleted a thread I made. I was basically ranting, but what do they expect? This software has been a crappy operation since it's birth. F*ck the mods, here's my post:

I just backed up everything to itunes from my iPad. I did everything like I normally would have, expect this time I used the "NEW" and "MORE AMAZING THAN EVER BEFORE" iTunes version 11.0.01..... pfft, yea right....

I had to MANUALLY ADD every single app by hand, twice, because iTunes crashed. On top of that, it didn't remember the folders I had on my iPad for the last year. I spent 15-20 minutes just putting things into their correct folders all over again.

Am I doing something wrong here, or has Apple officially dropped the ball?

Apple, you've ****** on your customers with this horrible piece of software for the upteenth time. Every software you've made is functional. But iTunes? It's a glorified pile of ****, and youre the only one branding it that way. The rest of us are calling it like it is. Not what I would expect from you. Time to get your **** together and MAKE IT WORK!!! You could higher the Apple Campus janitor to think smooth these short-comings.

Come on, Apple!! Steve is rolling in his grave!

Yaelle, your post makes no sense. While it's true that the new UI is annoying, it's easy to switch back to classic mode. Just click View/Show Sidebar and View/Show Status.  Nothing in the design change deleted your content, nor is that even possible.

What Apple has done is repeatedly ignore their customers, break iMatch (it crashes constantly if enabled), and "fix" what wasn't broken, causing unneeded hardship in the process.  But none of that erases your harddrive. If you lost songs, you did something wrong.

I have done what I can, I even signed an online petition (which is kind of pathetic in its own way).

I came back to this thread I started following when it was created to reassure myself that there still is an overwhelming ciriticism present. And it's good to see there is. iTunes is very important to me, I use it every day, there simply is no substitute (I looked hard in past months... some of the programs are even slightly worse than v11, but none as shiny)

But even if the next iTunes isn't half as bad, I would still stick with v10.7 - there is no reason not to.

I'm not buying any new Apple product unless the company alters course on a number of things, iTunes is just one part of it. Customers aren't mindless drones. I don't want to be treated like a clueless teenager obsessed with getting an iPhone or iPad he cannot afford just to be able to pretend he's living a lifestyle he cannot comprehend but wants to be part of so desperately. This is the feeling I get from iTunes11. It is perfect for this kind of person, everything is geared towards stuff you don't need. But not for me. This is what bugs me the most with Apple at this time. Overall, I'm not optimistic about the company's future at all.

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash

Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.

See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.

When you get it all working make a backup!
