Some of the iMovie Trailers (such as Spy) have a Globe with text that starts at both ends and then moves inward. Is it possible to use just this introduction with a project without having to use the pre-defined balance of the Trailer (the canned Outline, Storyboard and Shot List)?

Many thanks!

Trailers are designed to be idiot proof complete movies that provide complex effects and match a music track with not a lot of knowledge required.

However, it is possible to convert the trailer to a project and then you can edit it with all the capabilities of iMovie.

To do this, fill in as much of your trailer as you want or need. Then go the the Project Library View - so you can see all your projects at once.

Select your trailer, and click FILE/CONVERT TO PROJECT.

Now you can edit it as you would any project. You can delete everything except your globe, for example.
