With the Mac Pro being not being sold online by Apple at least in the EU now ,due to new regulations, unless a new professional and more importantly accessible Mac is produced my days with OS X could eventually be numbered which would be very sad. I am invested with the iPhone, I love my iPad but as pointed out a AIO is just that, not a modular system with a myriad of add ons to buy, especially when you are now paying £100 more for the unit as well.

Tell Apple, no one here has any investment in what you buy.

Did you read the post! Did you? I said I have told Apple via feedback. If you read my post its all in black & white, literally.  If you only took the time...

As you have contacted Apple I don't understand what you seek to achieve by posting here, we are just Apple users, like you.

Firstly, I don't believe for one second that Apple never reads these forums.  Actually, I can tell you they they DEFINITELY DO READ THESE FORUMS.  I've had messages revoked by Apple.  To think that Apple does not read this forum to take a user pulse is rediculious.  They read this forum, other forums, and of course their feedback.

What I did some time ago was send Apple feedback, with a link to this thread and threads at other forums, telling them that many were unhappy with the new iMacs.   I was going to upgrade my 2011 iMac, but will wait a couple of years and see if Apple comes to their senses.  I just can't bring myself to buy one in it's current state.

I don't think I said Apple didn't read these forums? I have to agree with you about the new iMac, and tbh the 2011 iMac is good enough, I would not personally consider upgrading yearly yet alone to a revision A unit. A friend wanted a new iMac and after looking at the new machines I suggested they try to find a 2011 model as they only wanted a 21.5" machine. Hopefully Apple will see the feedback we posted and think about making changes, who knows. Time for a coffee and its a new day. It's been good to discuss this with other users, even though not everyone seems to understand the idea of a community conversation. Take care.

Apple doesn't read these forums. You post(s) were reported to the host(s) by other users to be removed.

That's absolute nonsense.  I've conversed with Apple regarding my revoked messages, and I can tell you they definitely do read these forums.

    Absolutely not.

Anyone who has gotten one of "those" emails knows what they say. Among other sources, the hosts rely on users with the necessary privileges to report posts. Unlike you, I have this available to me - please note the "report post" link under your post which will report to the hosts directly:

Just bought an used 2011 iMac 27 at $1000 locally (just out of warranty). When I told the seller this would be the last imac with DVD drive, he could not even beliee it!

Maybe that is why the 2011 iMac is hold value pretty firm recently......

Apple has fallen on it's own sword. This nonsense about no DVD drives in new iMacs, Macbooks, and Mini's is STUPID. I am a long time Apple computer user, and have bought a lot of their stuff over the years, but this is it. I was about to purchase a brand new 27" iMac in their store. When I found out it did NOT have a DVD burner or drive, I cancelled the order on the spot. The Apple sales people said that a lot of people were also refusing to buy the new iMacs, the Minis, and the Macbooks that don't have DVD drives. The beginning of this nonsense was when Apple brought out the ipad tablet. It is so locked down, you can't even put a usb thumbdrive in it to transfer files, (and it doesn't have any DVD drive). We should have all immediately cried foul when Apple did this one. Now Apple is continuing on their path to totally control your computers and devices. You see now you can't even buy any programs or software unless you buy it online from Apple. Really? It's our computer, we bought and paid for it, and we can still use it the way "we" want to. Did you know that Apple will not allow you to put your choice of browsers on an ipad or iphone? Isn't that the same thing that the U.S. Justice Dept. took Microsoft to court for? What Apple is doing is MUCH more illegal than Bill Gates ever did. The reason they pulled DVD drives is because you won't be allowed to move "your" files off of the device. You know that DVD movie you bought in the store? Well, NO you can't watch it on your Apple computer anymore. Apple is "forcing" you to buy it from them online, and Apple gets to control "when and if" they let you watch it from their end. Again, you have to pay them, and you don't get anything. Wow! Talk about a scam. As Marc Levin says on his radio show, "stop allowing these jerks to take away your rights!"

I do not need my desktop computer to be "Light as a feather" like an iPad or iPhone or iPod.

    My desktop computer is Stationary.

Is the next new device from Apple going to be the . . . .

    iCant

I have been a lifelong Apple user of all their "Visions" and still love each one of them. This new "Vision" should be considered more. Did/Does Mr. Jobs approve of this decision?

The superdrive does work... I have one connected to my late 2012 iMac and it works perfectly. Also there is a Thunderbird to Firewire dongle you can get to connect your old cam corders. Plus I am 74 years old and still can see!

You obviously do not make your living with the aid of a Mac computer. If you did, you and others might understand the level of distress by most of us. I was planning on a new iMac this year (been 2009 since I updated). I am very uncertain and suspicious of the motives behind no recordable drive in the new Mac lineup.

People (companies) buy/use what ever does the job. They don't, they don't make money. If your stuck on using a Mac only... Mmmm... is up to you. The Movie/Tv (private editors) industry moved on to other platforms and apps when FCP X. They didn't wait on Apple.

Bottom line is, move on to another computer platform or buy a DVD burner.
