Hello. I used to have a Dell Laptop and finally decided to join the Apple community. Absolutely love it so far  (it's only been 2 days) but I have a bit of a problem. I used Migration Assistant and it said it worked successfully but when I got onto my Mac I couldn't find any of my music, pictures, or documents. It took a few hours for the migration so I kind of don't want to have to do it again if at all possible. I have read some other discussions and most have said to look under a different user. I have looked and nothing was there. I was hoping maybe someone could help before I transferred any files manually with my flash drive. Any help, tips, or advice would be tremendously helpful! I have an iPhone 4s and The New iPad but Mac is a bit more advanced. Any help please and thanks in advance!

When you did this transfer, did you do it as part of the setup of the new Mac or did you do it AFTER you setup a username on the Mac?  If you did during the initial setup, then your username you used on your Dell would have been migrated over to the Mac and you would have all your files in the same user id home folder as before.  That would be in Finder under your Home directory for your user.

To check user accounts, go into System Preferences and Users and see how many users are in there.  If you see more than one, then you ran the migration AFTER you had already created a user and that introduced your issue.  You'll have to transfer the files from the other user account into yours or just use the other one you migrated and delete the one you created manually.

I did this during the setup on my Mac. I didn't do a user name or anything until after it supposedly transferred. I'm the only user on here. I'm not exactly clear on what you mean about the Home Directory for my user on Finder. I opened Finder and didn't see anything like that. (This might be something extremely simple that everyone knows how to do but I don't lol. I'm completely new and oblivious to the world of Mac)

If it had transferred your info over, you wouldn't have had to create a user account.  One by the same name as the one you were using on your Dell would have been created and you would have just been prompted to set a password to it.  Are you sure the migration wizard completed successfully?

Oooh ok. I didn't know it'd set up on its own. I thought it transferred successfully but I guess not. Thank you so much! You've been a great help!
