if they don't use the same appleID then I would suggest you make a new user for the computer otherwise most people get very confused about changing appleID back and forth

personally I sync 1 ipad, 1 phone 1 ipod touch with my itunes lib but then I use the same appleID on all devices

if my wife wanted to sync her ipod touch with it then I would make a new user on the computer and log in with that when she wanted to sync

If you are using the same Apple ID on both devices, and I would assume that you are since they are both your own devices - there is no problem whatsoever syncing two devices with one iTunes library. The content in iTunes is tied to your ID so if you are using the same ID on both devices, simply select the content that you want to sync to each device in the sync settings.

This is an example of how you set up your sync preferences in iTunes using music as the example. It works the same way in all of the tabs in iTunes - just select the content that you want to sync.

Connect the iPad to the computer and launch iTunes.

Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.

Click on the Music Tab on the right.

Select all of the songs that you want to sync.

Click on the Sync Music Heading.

Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes

If you are using iTunes 11 a go to View>Show Sidebar from the menu at the top of the screen in order to make the sidebar visible.
