I have been experiencing the exact same problem and I reside in Europe. Some of my friends reported the same exact thing a few days ago and when I checked my updates I found it too. I am also worried about the security of my itunes account. I hope, if apple gets back to you, that you let us know or that they take care of it with a future update...

Are you seeing the same update app showing up in your account or another app's update that you never purchased? So far Apple has been silent on helping me. I had to fire off an email asking what the situation was only to find out that the person I was dealing with was on leave and someone else was taking over. Its been 4 days since I heard anything.
Thankfully the iTunes account does not have a credit card attached to it. I always tell people to use iTunes gift certificates if they want to purchase apps rather than just free apps. I am still concerned about the security of my iTunes account none the less.

The most likely reason is that you have installed pirated software on your device.

Excuse me? Show me the basis of your accusation that I am using pirated software on my device! So Apple apparently can do no wrong by you and have a problem with their database on their iTunes servers?
You are also accusing MarSy78 and everyone else that is having this problem of having pirated software on their device as well.

Excuse me? Show me the basis of your accusation.
I made no accusation, I provided you with the information that the most likely reason for this problem is that you have installed pirated software. I don't know about you but I approach a problem by looking at the most common cause first, not the least.

Yes, I have the exact same app appearing in my itunes account. I emailed apple and they responded immediately. They said they looked into my account and it does not appear to be hacked. The sollution they suggested is that i delete the app from my home screen. However, the app does not exist in my home screen and I have told apple the same thing. I am currently waiting for their response. I will get back to you as soon as they reply
PS. For all those who are eager to accuse people of runnming pirated software, I would suggested they are more cautious when jumping into conclusions. I do not use pirated software and i do not jailbreak my apple products. If you are trying to offer assistance to any community members, it would be nice to establish the problem by asking relevant questions and not blame people so blatantly. (This is for you Mr WInston CHurchill). Your attitude helps noone

Sounds like the same suggestion I had gotten from non Apple support about deleting the app from my iPad which like you I do not have. Nor does the app show up in my iTunes account. I sent them screen shots showing the app in App Store on my iPad as well as on iTunes on my Desktop. The app does not show up in my App Store account as being previously purchased/downloaded so there is no way of deleting it.
If some how this app had made it into our App Store accounts deleting the app from your iPad really would not get rid of the app per se. This is because deleting an app off an iPad just removes it from the device. The app still would show up in your iTunes account.

I know what you are saying and I agree.
I have sent them screenshots too. But to be honest i haven't checked my itunes on my desktop.
However, if you can see it in your desktop can't you delete it then? or Have I understood something wrong?

Sorry for not being clearer. Like the App Store app on the iPad the only place this particular Chinese app shows up on my iTunes on my desktop computer is under Apps Update. As you know you can not delete apps from the Apps Update screen.
Sounds like Apple has database problem on their end that is linking this Chinese application to another app that we both probably have sitting in our iTunes accounts.

Here's my latest update.
Apple has responded saying that they have informed their fraud department and they will look into it and get back to me. In the meantime they recommend that I change my password and remove my credit card information from my account. They have also recommended that I "contact the fraud departments of any consumer reporting company to place a fraud alert on my credit report".
They have also contacted the developer of the app and have informed him of the situation. They said that they will get back to me once they have additional information.
So far I am satisfied with the way they are handling this situation. I will advise my friend who is experiencing the same problem to report it to Apple so that they are aware that more people have been encountering this issue. Please do the same as well.
Once I have more information I will report back.
PS. I checked my itunes library and it is clean. The app does not appear to be in my macbook which, makes sense since I have not used it to sync my ipad the past month or so.

Thanks for the update. Seems you are getting a lot more info out of Apple than I am. Any idea when this Chinese app started showing up in Apps Update for you?

I noticed it today ,but a friend of mine has had this for a couple of weeks.
So far these are the steps I have taken.
1. Changed my password
2. Removed my credit card info from my account and have checked my ebanking, everything seems to be in order.
3. I have enquired if resetting the device might help. The lady at the itunes store support seems to believe that it might do, however she suggested that the best option is to contact the ipad technical assistance for further assistance. They have more knowldge in removing the app. In order to contact them you need to dial the following no. 00800 44145417
That's all for now

I doubt that it will do anything about resetting the device. That update we are seeing is coming down from Apple's end which is using a Database on their server to determine which updates should be pushed down to your device.

Well after a week of emailing iTunes Support I have been told to phone Tech Support. I very much doubt that there is anything wrong at my end since this problem is happening to multiple people which points to a problem at Apple's end. I just hope that I do not have to go back and forth for another week only to get passed to someone else!
