After upgrading my Mac Pro (2008) from Leopard to Snow Leopard, my Mac now uses my short user name for AFP logins. I want AFP to insert my default user name, not the short name.

Apple's support article HT4121 explains how to change your name back to the default.

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4121?viewlocale=en_US

Apparently, you enter the following two strings into Terminal:

defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.NetworkAuthorization UseDefaultName -bool NO

defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.NetworkAuthorization UseShortName -bool NO

Just one problem -- it doesn't work. My Mac continues to enter my short name in the AFP login box. I'm no Terminal expert. Am I supposed to replace some value in those strings? Should NO be YES?

It's not the end of the world but my short name doesn't coincide with my account on our file server. That's why this issue is annoying -- I have to manually type my long user name every day. Thank you.
