its very very bad. its not the Apple I have known for the last 20 years. Steve Jobs would have hated it. Fix it - now!!!! Completely un-intuitive.

Change for the sake of change!  Without a doubt, the biggest piece of crap I've ever seen.  It takes me 10 minutes to figure out how to do anything.  I'd love to follow some of the advice here on how to go back to the last version, but I'm not very technical and doing stuff like that always seems to backfire on me and waste even more of my time so I think I'm stuck with it.

This update REALLY *****!!  Is anybody at Apple listening???

No, you are not the only one to hate the new itunes, apparently. I just can't seem to get the feel of the new interface. Everything takes forever to find. This feel so much like a stupid microsoft upgrade. I can't understand it, and want the old itunes back.

Well I just upgraded ..... where the heck is the side bar menu?? Who thought it was logical NOT to have a side bar menu?  Is there somewhere to turn it on?  Apple is starting to make me think they can't function without Steve Jobs.

You can restore much of the look & feel of the previous version with these shortcuts:

    • CTRL+B to turn on the menu bar.
    • CTRL+S to turn on the sidebar (your device should be listed here as before).
    • CTRL+/ to turn on the status bar.
    • Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour.
    • Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may allow iTunes to start up quicker).

I'm just so disappointed in Apple at the moment. What a shame and hassle, its a design that I would expect from google or MS but not Apple. I'm glad to see that many of us are digusted enough to speak out. Let's see if it does any good.

OK, I didn't like the new look, and really miss iTunes DJ, but now, tonight I see that my playcount is messed up.  I had songs that were near my top 25, now with zero songs played.  C'mon, Peace Train and Bohemian Rhapsody with no plays?  Ok, it's not the end of the world, but I have been using iTunes on Windows for about five years, and now my playcount is meaningless...forever.  Somewhere in this thread I saw reference to some plays not incrementing, but I haven't seen anyone indicate that they have observed a playcount being reset, but mine are.  Not most songs, but some.  I don't know if it is because of a sync, or the Up Next, or what, but Apple products are supposed to just work.  I confess that I haven't read all of the 65 pages of this thread to see if there is a fix.  For those of you that just upgraded, keep an eye on your play count, and if anyone has suggestions, I'd like to hear them..

You can try restoring the "pre-upgrade" library as set out here but that will lose any play count information created since you upgraded. See this thread for some more thoughts...

I've been back with 10.7 for a week now and the only annoyance iTunes causes me now is the prompts to update. This is what I am told:

The new iTunes includes a dramatically simplified player, a completely redesigned Store, and iCloud features you'll love—this is the best iTunes yet.

    • Completely Redesigned. iTunes makes it more fun to explore and enjoy your music, movies, and TV shows. You'll love the beautiful edge-to-edge design, custom designs for each album, movie, or TV show in your library, and getting personal recommendations any time you click In the Store...
    • Improved search. It's never been easier to find what you're looking for in iTunes. Just type in the search field and you'll instantly see results from across your entire library. Select any result and iTunes takes you right to it.

What a complete and utter load of bollocks. I will NEVER AGAIN trust Apple on any software updates. And I never thought I'd be glad to say I'm a Windows user. Microsoft never did anything as unbelievably effed up as the new iTunes.

I am having play counts vanish as well. However, the songs I have that are clearing their counts are songs that haven't been played recently. I have a playlist, "The Unplayed Melody," and the things that are on top there that have "last played" date that are between June and October of 2012 - hardly things that got zeroed out because of some botched resync en masse. I look at the songs and know I haven't played them recently, and they only happen in dribs and drabs - they don't get lost all at one time.

Clearly, something wrong that results in a data loss bug. Clearly, not something that's terribly easy to notice. However, it's something they ought to be able to find now that they know it's happening. Maybe in the next update....

I can't even do the basic stuff I used to do in iTunes; after using it for a while, it doesn't seem to help that.

I don't like the new UI appearance too; this upgrade has been a big fail.

    Please fix this crap.

    You can go back.

You have to uninstall, then install from the previous binary.

    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1576

    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1577 for 64 bit

However, the database is upgraded in 11 so you will lose your library history.  You have to simply import all of your library content again.

I did this exercise twice on Windows 7.  I personally liked the new version better.  However, I entered credentials incorrectly for a secure podcast that I download, and it seems to remember them and not provide any interface to correct the password, hence no access to that podcast ever again.  I roll back to 10.7 and no problems.  I almost think it stores the credentials in the cloud or something because I scoured my registry and removed 100% apple products clean, reinstall and problem remained.

No you won't. Just copy the latest file in the /Music/iTunes/Previous iTunes libraries folder to /Music/iTunes/ and rename it iTunes library.itl

With the iTunes update 11.0, a number of issues still remain.

It may sound petty to sum but the loss of artwork for both CD's and iTunes purchases is another frustrating bug.

Once again APPLE I implore you to hire people with the ability to correct such issues.

I have protested previously, but the use of the "Apple Support Communities", is just a way for you to save money and for buyers of your products to get frustrated.

But, there are now great alternatives in the market-place, so watch this space.

    Goodbye iPhone and iPad !!!!!
