I exited Word without apparently properly saving a document. I have a Time Capsule, but the document does not seem to be there either. Any techniques for finding a document recently worked on?
If you didn't save it, it never existed. It was never written to the disk.
Word has a "Open Recent .." feature. Try that.
Word / File / Open Recent ...
If the document was never saved it will not appear in Open Recent because it was never written.
Word actually claims it will "AutoSave". So even if the user has not saved, Open Recent should list the file if it had been worked for longer than the setting in Save options.
Eustace nice one. The default is always on. However, mouse over the text, "Save AutoRecovery info...."
and read the information that appears in the box below in the Description of Preference, particularly the last sentence.
I think that sentence means. "don't depend on this, you should be saving your files".
I have closed documents I did not save - because I did not want to - and still found them listed in Open Recent.
"I have closed documents I did not save - because I did not want to - and still found them listed in Open Recent."
And what was the name of the document you found in Open Recent?
Sorry - was a while ago.
Just tried it. Doesn't work as you suggest.
OK - let me try it too.
Did it. Left the file unsaved for more than an hour. Did not work for me either.
So, either MS Word is inconsistent, or I am delusional. Or both.
We're all delusional.
