Broken Home Menu button? Send it to Apple for repair or replacement.

My home button isn't broken but sometime when I press it, it isn't closing whatever it's on and not returning to the home screen so I have to press multiple times. I read of one guy having this problem and what he did was pour a small amount of rubbing alcohol over the home button so it sunk down in and fixed the connection. Bad thing to do as this will set the water sensors off inside the iPod so that if he sends it in they'll know water got in it and won't be repaired.
