Luxurypop, try selecting the audio output before you launch airplay mirror. Please just confirm you are mirroring as you say you have Lion on the title not mountain lion (OS X 10.8). Your macnook pro certainly mirrors but please confirm it is not an OS issue.

Please confirm your OS edition, you are saying Lion and you need Mountain Lion. Are you getting the airplay mirror icon and is it turning blue when you hit it?

You can get interference from some household appliances and it can knock mirror. If it goes again always reboot router and ATV as a first stab. The old idea of turn it off and turn it back on solves a surprising amount!!

Restarting works for me as well, I discovered this the first time. I was hoping to find some way around having to restart. There is obviously a bug that needs to be worked out. I tried reloading the Finder, loggin out and back in, to no avail. Must restart.
Apple...What's the deal?!
