Whereas previously I was able to play DVDs and generally use the CD / DVD drive, suddenly I can't see the SuperDrive in Finder, even when I have inserted a disk.

And the disk, which has a recording on it which plays perfectly well on my wife's Macbook, is read by my MacBookPro as being "blank".

I wondered whether it might have been influenced by previously sharing the drive with the Bootcamp side.  So I turned it off in bootcamp and turned off sharing CD/DVD in sharing settings.  But still the SuperDrive is not visible.

Has anyone else had this experience?

and, if so, were you able to solve the problem?

and, if so, how?

Thanks in anticipation
