Neither of my two cards will show up on my Macbook Pro.

    - Blew into the card reader.

    - Opened iPhoto multiple times.

    - Rebooted multiple times.

    - Checked all "show external disks" boxes.

    - About This Mac > More info > Card Reader : Shows that no card is inserted.

    - Extracted and Inserted card repeatedly.

    - "Wiggled" the card in the slot.

    - Poked a toothpick in multiple times, using a flashlight to actually look inside card reader. (Nothing was obscuring reader.)

Anyone else got any great ideas?

Well, my solution was different. Since my Macbook Pro is still under warranty (AppleCare), I took it to the shop, and they told me they would replace the motherboard. The battery status button was not working, so they replaced the top case too. Basically, I got a new laptop!

Hi everybody. Same issues for me. I just copied about 32Gb of stuff on my MBP when I inserted another SD card in order to complete the data transfer and... BAM! No more SD cards for me. Spent a few time looking around for solutions on the net. Blowing in the solt seems to be the only one.

I followed jgs600 method and my SD was "Mac-friendly" again. With a blow and a finger. Got the message?
What is making me really sick is the fact that no one from the Apple staff is showing up to give some support on the forum.

OIIOIIO, I think that we are "old news" now and we can forget about Apple caring about this problem. Look at how long this string has been posted. This problem could have been solved a dozen times over IF Apple cared. I, too, have tried every single thing posted and none have worked (except one time and only for one use!) My solution: buy a card reader.

I have a MacOSX with 10.8.3 and tried to plug the card-reader into the USB, but Mac OSX doesnt recognize the sd-card. Does anyone know, how to fix this problem?

    regards

If you have time to go back through the dozens and dozens of posts, you will find various ways people have tried to resolve this but the sad truth seems to be that there is no universal solution and Apple doesn't seem to care as they have never once addressed this issus in the several years that it has been discussed!

I just tried your suggestion about inserting it at an angle and that worked for me.  Thanks.

Try this... insert your sd card... then push the sd card slightly up and hold it. uncomfortable but works for me every time.

I've had this problem for nearly a year. All was working fine then one day nada.  Having lost my camera cable yesterday and needing sd images urgently, I revisited this forum and found your words.  All I can say is thank you.  Having tried all the technical stuff many times - this trick worked!  I dont know how to give points but it I did you would have them :-)

Thanks Richard, encountered this problem for the first time with 10.8.4 installed. Tried your suggestion from a couple of years back and it worked.

Guys, the simple and unfailing solution can be found below. This works like a charm for me.

PNY USB 2.0 Combo Card Reader, $10 at Walmart.

    You're welcome.

You made me laugh out loud with that response and of course you are 100% right. Apple should now mark this discussion "Solved" and put us all out of our misery.
