My OSX 10.8 (Server 2.1.1) server was somehow hacked - I think.  No data was lost but endless damage was done to the mail system corrupting and disabling AMVISD, changing permissions on postfix config files amoungst other things.  The only reason I think it was a hack is the damage is very specifically aimed at the virus filtering and SMTP authenticating mechanims in mail.

I have old Time Machine backups but the further back I am going I am still finding problems with AMVISD and internal mail transfer.. endless permissioning issues preventing mail being passed to AMVISD and Postfix.

So I am trying to rebuild the server from absolute scratch - clean install, recreate users etc.  The problem I have is how to transfer the mail store files in /Library/Server/Mail/Data/Mail to the new machine.  I can copy the actual files but then cannot access them from the new user accounts on the new machine - presumably permissioning and identification issues,  My users are predominately IMAP (iPads and iPhones) and hence use the server for the primary mail database.

Does anyone know if there is a way to do this?

Many thanks
