OK, no Windows malware can affect OS X or the TC, so a better idea would have been to use a Windows virus checker on the TC's drive (just for future information).
Wiping the drive could have killed the TC, however it probably hasn't. Did you use an enclosure? Have you tried factory resetting the TC?

Thanks edex67! I thought I'd returned to factory settings but had not. I appreciate the reminder! Got it up and running like it was before!
Re the malware issue, I have quarantined 37 HIDDENEXT/Worm.Gen from my Library/Mail/IMAP accounts with MacKeeper, who terms it "other malware" on the quarantine page. Hopefully I've gotten all of it cleared. Whatever it was has created havoc.
