Babowa, greetings:  Not that I think that you may be doubting me but I offer this as evidence for anyone who may be skeptical  that this can be done.  Note that a 2.5 GHz CPU was only available on a late 2011 MBP:

Ha, did you say you had a 17"?

According to a brody's list (thanks, noondaywitch!), if you do have a 17", you can only run Lion:

Note: I am not doubting anyone - I am trying to get to the bottom of the puzzle. If yours works despite whatever lists have been published, that's great! If I am wrong as to which model you have, let me know.

Babowa, greetings;  It is indeed a 17" MBP and I suggest that the brody's list needs to be amended.

    Ciao.

If you think so, post something in the lounge with his name and user tip referenced.

Babowa, greetings;  I have done so per your suggestion.

I would be very, very surprised if anyone could install 10.6.8 on a 2012 MBP.  I think that the late 2011 MBPs had very slight upgrades in the CPUs and GPUs which still allow for 10.6 to run.  The only reason I am still using Lion is simply to discover the differences (note I do not say improvements) with Snow Leopard.

    Ciao.

Great - no big deal, but for future reference: the WC would have been fine - the FHB is when there is action required by the hosts.

Babowa, greetings:  My mistake was not asking you first.  I did think about it, but what can one expect from a green tyro.

    Ciao.

    P. S. can it be moved?

Is there a report post button to the right of your post? If so, ask to have it moved, otherwise just leave it - no big deal.

He won't have it since he is the OP, but I asked the hosts to move it.

stevejobsfan0123, greetings;  We will keep this faux pas a secret?  Won't we?

    (stupid humor)

    Thanks for your intervention.

    Ciao.
