Hi everybody, my Macbook PRO 5,1 with 10.8.2 installed doesn't go to Sleep when closing the display and have the power adapter attached.

If i remove the power adapter and close the disply the laptop goes correctly to sleep but no way of doing with power adapter attached.

Resetted PRAM and SMC, no way, same problem.

Any Tip?

Note that when you make changes in Energy saver, there are TWO SETS of settings -- one for battery-only, one for Power Adapter.

The MacBook pro is supposed to sleep when the magnet in the display comes very close to a proximity switch (also know as a reed switch) in the base.

If the magnet is missing or the reed switch is defective or has a broken wire, you get no sleep when you close it.

Does it sleep when you go to the Apple menu in the upper left and then click Sleep?
