HT5148 My Final Cut Pro crashed since I purchased it, after importing new files. What could be the problem?

Don't know whether this will cure it but . . .
Have you tried trashing the preferences?
Many weird things happen as a result of corrupt preferences which can create a vast range of different symptoms, so whenever FCP X stops working properly in any way, trashing the preferences should be the first thing you do using this free app.
Shut down FCP X, open PreferenceManager and in the window that appears:-
1. Ensure that only FCP X is selected.
2. Click Trash
The job is done instantly and you can re-open FCP X.
There is absolutely no danger in trashing preferences and you can do it as often as you like.
The preferences are kept separately from FCP X and if there aren't any when FCP X opens it automatically creates new ones . . . instantly.

No it did not help. I have now completely downloaded the program again after deleting it. Still have the same problem. When I try to import new files it will crash.
Unbelievable that Apple, or whoever owns Final Cut Pro, does not have a helpdesk for a program that costs 300 dollars!
Anyone wanting to get a program to make videoclips or movies FINAL CUT PRO: DO NOT BUY THIS PROGRAM UNLESS YOU ARE A COMPUTER EXPERT!

OK, try removing FCP X completely using this free app and download FCP X again

Hi thanks again!
Well I did what you told me to do, and things are different now. Once I start the program it will crash right away now! I cant even get the menu running...
Do you know if Apple returns the money if the program won't work? This program really *****!
Again for all people wanting to buy FINAL CUT PRO... use the free version, DON'T BUY IT! because you will get srewed with no support from APPLE and you can only get some advise here.

I've no idea whether Apple has a returns policy as I'm just a customer like you.
However, I'm fairly confident in saying that that the problem will almost certainly be something connected with your computer and its setup rather than FCP X.
Open Disk Utility and run Repair Permissions. Also Verify the disk.
If these don't have any useful effect, create another User Account in System Preferences, log into it and see if you can run FCP X from that.
It would also help people reading this thread if you gave full details of your computer, Video Card, RAM, remaining hard drive space etc.
Are you one of those who always puts the computer to sleep?
If so, shut it down fully, disconnect it from the electricity supply, hold the power button down for ten or more seconds and after a few minutes plug back in and restart.
Have you got any third-party apps installed as there may be a conflict?
