No...Migration Assistant only allows all apps or none...individual apps can't be chosen.

Thanks, Mike, appreciate -- and, I did read the support docs, BUT, I guess I have hard time believing that a group of people who claim to be as smart as Apple does can't see that tranferring ALL is rarely desireable. Applecare suggested doing just that and then deleting what I don't want.
With over a hundred apps, 484 total Gig on that drive: 300 G of Photos, several editing programs (Adobe CS and plug ins), it would be insane to transfer all that to a portable Laptop that was added for teaching, group meetings, conferences and exhibitions.
There is some way to "copy" from the iMac to the MB using a Firewire 800 connection. I just need to find it.
