Q: Getting an answer from Siri

Help?  When I ask Siri a question, it always ask if I want it to search the web and then proceed to do so.  I never get an answer.  When driving, I need it to give me an answer.  I can't look up all of the sites.

If you ask it a question like "Is it raining?" or similar that it can answer without a lookup, it will do so.  If not, it will do a lookup.

Are you running iOS 6.1 (or 6.1.1 released today) to take advantage of all the latest capabilities?

I updated today.  I will ask things like which sodas are gluten free?  Things like that.

The example you provided help clarify very well, thanks.  Siri sends that type of question to Wolfram Alpha, part of its heritage.  So it does involve some type of internet interaction.

Nonetheless, you may wish to offer your feedback to Apple.  Here's how to do that:

Again, there are a few things Siri knows how to do directly, like give you a stock quote, a sports score, weather information.  The rest will involve web searches and Siri will tell you about that.  That's how it works today.

You can use Eyes Free if your car supports it.

In a car that supports Eyes Free, you can also start a conversation with Siri by pressing a button on your steering wheel.
