I can't view my calendar on my iMac. When I open Calendar, I see the menu bar and can view that, but nothing else. Many of the items on the drop down menu are greyed out and the few I can click on, result in nothing happening.  It's fine on my iPad and iPhone, just not on my iMac.

Tired to restore it from Time Machine and I get the warning that I can't alter Calendar.

Any suggestions/help?  It's been about a week ago that this started.

    Hi,

I suggest you try deleting the calendar cache.

    • Choose Home from the Finder's Go menu.

    • Open the Library folder. Depending on your version of OSX you may need to hold the Option key while clicking the Go menu in order to access the Library folder.)

    • Open the Calendars folder.

    • In the Finder, delete the Calendar Cache files, including any that also display a -1 (or -2, -3, and so forth) directly after their filename.

    • Open iCal and wait for the calendars to be rebuilt.

    Best wishes

Next I'd suggest removing the iCal plist file.

    • Choose Home from the Finder's Go menu.

    • Open your User's Library folder. Depending on your version of OSX you may need to hold the Option key while clicking the Go menu in order to access the Library folder.)

    • Open the Preferences folder.

    • In the Finder, move the file 'com.apple.iCal.plist' to your Desktop.

    • Open iCal and check.

    Best wishes

You're right the "Choose home" part is not needed, sorry for the confusion.

Do you have a Time Machine backup. Have you tried restoring the Calendar folder (Your User's Library > Calendars) to a point in time before the problem started?

    • Open the Library folder. Depending on your version of OSX you may need to hold the Option key while clicking the Go menu in order to access the Library folder.)

    • Select the Calendars folder in Finder, so it is highlighted.

    • From the right section of the menu bar at the top of the window select the Time Machine icon and from its menu select 'Enter Time Machine'.

    • Go Back in time machine to a point before you were having the issue and click 'Restore'.

    • Choose to replace your current version.

    • Open iCal.

If that does not work, make a new User account on the machine and see if the application opens ok in the new account.

What are you syncing iCal to?

    Is that by iCloud?
