Are you sure the account is set up as an IMAP account? If so, contact your email provider as this is a function of their mail server, not your devices. Or, you could delete the account in Outlook and re-create it to see if that would help.

I've checked and it is definitely IMAP. I am with AOL and as soon as you mention anything other than the AOL software, they do not want to know :-(
I have deleted the account from my iPhone and resinstalled it but it's just the same.
I'll try deleting the account in Outlook. I take it all my emails and folders will return given I am using IMAP? I don't really want to lose the emails I've saved?
Thank you for your reply :-)

If it's an IMAP account and AOL's IMAP is working, your folders should be synced back. Hoewever you may want to check on AOL's user forum (assuming they have one) to see if others are experiencing this problem first.

I think the problem is with Outlook :-( I have tried my emails using aol.co.uk and my iphone and it works as I want it to :-)
Outlook did an update a few weeks ago, is it possible to go back to pre-update?

Probably not. You would have to check with Microsoft support on that. Try checking their Office support forum: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2010?auth=1.

Through a process of elimination, it has to be Outlook which is at fault If I use Mac Mail the devices talk to each other so the same emails get read and deleted.
I wonder if Outlook has another update if it will revert to how it was before?
Thank you for taking the time to help me

I'm not sure; hopefully so. I have Office for Mac too, but have found Outlook to be problematic so I just use OS X Mail, Calendar and Contacts and stopped using Outlook.
