Does anyone know if there is something that will fix the problem that Pages has with tables?

It starts with trying to format a table. This has happened randomly with various formatting.  When it happens, the table cells become non-editable (double clicking only selects the table, not any cell.).

This sometimes can be fixed by floating then putting back it in-line.  However, at this point, it usually goes downhill.  More often than not, the tabs on the Inspector gets messed up, (screen shot below).   It will continue usually with a crash (reported to Apple an untold number of times).  And about 20% of the time, it may currupt the document which then can't be opened by Pages.

FYI - Pages 09  4.3 on MacOS 10.8.2

Thanks for any suggestions, or a least get the Pages team on a fix.

Have you tried a simple Restart?

    Mark,

Is there anything unusual about that table? Is it particularly large, of part of a very large document? Or, is it filled with content copied from the web? My inclination would be to uninstall Pages and re-install it, but I wouldn't rule out a reaction to unusual content in the table.

    Restart you computer

Log into another user account. If you don't have more than one create a new account in the system preferences and then log into it.

Try Pages in the new account. Do you still have the problem with Pages or not?

Come back and tell us the result and to get some info on what to do next.

How about try doing as asked? It is a process to see where the problem lies.

And also more specifically describe how you format the table to get the inspector corrupted. If we also can get this weird behaviour it is a bug but if it is only you having the problem........ I can't remeber anyone reporting the problem in this forum.

    Mark,

I can't duplicate it here, but I'm not sure exactly what you are doing. If you post a step-by-step of how to corrupt a document, I'll try it. (Right after I update my bootable backup)

I wonder if it was that Screen Shot that got their attention.

I think I'll pass on the sample. Thanks for the offer. The problem is in good hands now.
