Delete problem tracks and try importing them on a different format. Try Apple lossless for example. When trying to match previously uploaded tracks, you have a better chance of matching.

I've done as you suggested. Deleted the problem tracks and re ripped to itunes using apple lossless. When match kicked in it matched track one but with a wrong version. (It's a hapless album and the track its matched is the same track but clearly has a gap at the end) its also been stuck for hours on "uploading artwork and remaining songs" 0 of 19 uploaded. I called apple support and they advised me to uninstall and reinstall itunes which I've done too. No help. Any other ideas? Just so you know, the same issue happens on albums that aren't gapless too.

I've been reading other threads about it being an ISP issue but I've checked with virgin and they say there's no problem and I'm able to upload tracks to skydrive no problem. I'm gonna take my laptop to a friends at the weekend. See if it works there on another Internet connection.

Also check the bit rate on the problem tracks if it's too low it will cause an error. thought i would put that out there as I had similar problem with tracks and that was the problem.

something i didnt think to check before which ive now checked and it seems ok.
i decided to see what was running in the background. i found a program that wasnt there before. intel wifi dashboard. also airvideo which is an app i have on my iphone that plays videos from my laptop. i disabled both and its now working. obviously it was 1 or both of these running that caused the issue. but its all good now.
sorry to have bothered you. :-)
