Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
- Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.
Okay as to the os and version of iPhoto, I can't say. This not my equipment, I am merely asking here as a favour to a friend who can't access the internet at the moment.
I am not exporting anything, and clearly stated it was an import issue. The iPad in question has photographs visible on its camera roll. When attached to a macbook pro, and iPhoto is opened, the iPad is visible as a device, however the photographs are not. An iPhone can be attached and the pictures are available for import. Further, new pictures have been taken with the iPad (post initial attempt to import) and these are still not available for import.
I have no idea if this is a new issue, but unlikely as this is the first attempt to import from the particular ipad to a macbook.
I have talked my friend through the use of image capture to copy the images also, and it too cannot see the iPad pictures.
There is absolutely nothing unusual about the setup. It's a plain vanilla macbook, with not additional software installed, and this was the first time iPhoto was opened.
Or to put it another way: Photos appear in an iPads camera roll, but do not show as available for import in iPhoto
I am not exporting anything, and clearly stated it was an import issue.
See, that's why I say this:
As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on
Note the underlined bit.
If neither iPhoto nor Image Capture can see the material then my next step would be to try with another machine. If that cannot see the material either, then it seems like an iPad issue. Have these photos been processed or manipulated by an iOS app on the Pad?
