I'm new to the ipad and am concerned about Internet security, for windows products there seems to be lots of solutions but I am having trouble finding a solution to protecting my ipad from viruses etc while using either safari or google

iPad, iOS 6.1

You don't need any antivirus or security software if you don't Jailbreak your iPad.

    Don't worry, enjoy your iPad.

The only thing you need to watch out for on your iPad is phishing. Viruses, defined as malicious programs that propogate themselves across your system, do not run on the iPad. The 'sandbox' nature prevents that, along with fact that the only things you can install come from the app store. Also, most viruses are .exe files, written for PC's, and they simply will not run on an iPad. Two totally different operating systems.

You still need to be aware where you're entering info, don't go clicking on those random links in e-mails, know where you're entering personal info, stuff like that. But it is a fairly safe operating system and isn't as prone to issues as a windows based one.
