Unlike the Androide version of WhatsApp, the iOS version doesn't backup your information automatically. Just use 3rd party apps like WhatsApp Pocket to get them back, the program lets you to extract and recover your WhatsApp chats. The Mac version of the program supports recovering from your backup and device directly:

You can check your backup in iTunes,iCloud, even in the phone, when you reinstall the app, you can see a backup and restore option in Whatsapp setting. I ever recover deleted messages from iTunes backup.
However, if you don't have anybackup, you can use recovery tools, when I lost messages from whats app, I found a recovery software named Tenorshare Free Whatsapp Recovery which can recover whatsapp data withbackup, you can have try.
P.S. You had better not use Whatsapp until you get back lost chat history, if you use the 3rd-party tool.

As Siu's suggestion, firstly check your iTunes backup and iClouds account to confirm if you could find chats history.
If you don't have any backup, you'd better to try tool to rescue your whatsapp message. Try the MobiSaver, I used it to find out my whatsapp photos.
