Hi,

It seems that OS X can now merge directories with the same name while moving or copying. Unfortunately, I've never seen a screen offering me choices for merging or replacing directories and files. I'm using OS X 10.7.5. Somebody knows how to get this feature ? Thanks.

Merge only works with 'move' not copy.

You have to try to move a folder to a location where another folder with the identical name already exists — but which doesn't have the same content — to get the 'merge' dialogue.

Files are different and can't be merged by Finder; if you try to move a file into a location where another file of the same name already exists, you get the option to 'keep both' copies or 'replace'.
