I just bought a used 13" Macbook Pro. When I try to install software, it quits shortly after inserting install disk into the optical drive. It does this everytime regardless what program I'm trying to install. It does it whether I'm using the Superdrive or an external drive. Any idea why?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Have you checked to see if the software is 10.8 compatible?

Yes, I called Adobe and they claim it is compatible. Some people have reported issues, but they are all with functionality, not installation.  However, when I tried to install the only other program I have on disc (IWorks), it worked fine. Seems the hardware is working.  But my son has the same computer and had no trouble installing the Adobe discs. I am currently running a software update on the new computer to see if that makes any difference.

The software may be compatible but the installer may PPC. Could also be that you've exceeded the licenses.

Which Adobe software are you trying to install from disc?
