I have an Applescript that hides time ranges in iCal that I was sharing on my website called Visible Day in iCal. It works in OSX 10.5 and OSX 10.6 but crashes iCal in 10.7 or later, so I removed it. If you would like a copy, send me a message.
The red dot shows the current time in iCal.
As I sell software on my site and ask for donations, the Apple Discussions Use Agreement requires that I state that I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link.

Thanks for your reply. I hesitate changing scripts because, as you mentioned, sometimes they have nasty side effects in the event of an OS upgrade.
The start time isn't a deal-breaker for me, iCal is still my primary calendar device and 90% of it works for me. This little quirk is something I can overlook. There are other things that bother me like not being able to see the entire description of an event in month view but, again, they're not deal-breakers.
Thanks again for your help!
