I just started a new job and the small outfit has a Canon  imageRUNNERADVANCE C2000 series copier that will print. I have downloaded the drivers several times, but the printer preferences does not find them.  Any help?

    I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "the printer preferences does not find them". If you mean that when you open Print & Scan and select to add a printer the C2000 does not appear, then this would be correct because the C2000 series do not support Bonjour.

    To add this printer you need to select IP and then the LPD protocol. You then enter the IP address of the printer, leave the Queue blank, change the name from the IP address to something more meaningful like Canon, and then in the Use menu, click on Select Printer Software. From the new window that appears, type C20 in the search field. This will short list the installed driver list as shown below.

    You should then see the iR-ADV C2020/2030 for the UFR2 or PS driver, depending on which driver you installed. Select the entry, click OK and then click Add to complete the printer creation.

    If you don't see the C2020/2030 as I have shown above, or if you meant something else to what I have replied with, then please let me know.

    The next step would be to check that the software did install correctly.

    Open Finder and in the menubar, select Go > Go to Folder. Then type in the following;

    /Library/Printers/Canon

    and press Go. With the Canon folder displayed you will see the BJPrinter and IJScanner folders. These are for the inkjet consumer models. What you should also see is a UFR2 or CUPSPS2 folder, depending on which driver you downloaded from Canon. Do you see this?

    What driver did you download?

    Thanks for checking the folders and confirming the driver.

    If the Print & Scan preference pane is open when you run the UFR2 Installer, this can stop the UFR devices from appearing in the Add printer window. The fix is to restart the Mac. After you log back in and select to add, the UFR2 printers should be visible.
