Been trying to fix this for months, maybe years. Adding paper worked for me. (Checking for bluetooth interference from the phone was obvious: turned that off months ago and mouse still kept disconnecting.) Am using Duracell rechargeable batteries which have also had varying fits in other appliances/units so will smile while making little paper triangles and laugh because they DO work.

Sorry... I wasn't trying to make fun of anyone; I think there are two, separate problems at work.

    1. loose batteries, which should cause the mouse to completely disconnect - I have to believe that even a momentary loss of power shuts down the mouse and you loose the connection;  so, good call on the battery solution;

    2. irratic connection, which I attribute to radio interference at 2.4GHz, which presents not as a complete disconnect but as a 'stuttering' mouse cursor.  While my mouse would sometimes disconnect completely, the larger problem for me was the jerky cursor behavior.

Interestingly, it had nothing to do with the BT radio on the Nexus S 4G - that was already disabled; it appeared to be entirely caused by the BT radio in my iPhone 4.

great - I had the same problem after changing brand of batteries - but the folded up piece of paper trick has worked a treat - thanks!

I had the same problem and I made of my own solution to it. It is very simple.

Using a Q-tip cotton swab, and break it in middle. put the two halves in between batteries with cotton side to two ends. Then close the lid, sound and tight. This prevent any small shaking when you move the mouse and cause the batteries losing contact.

Good luck and happy using Magic Mouse.

The piece of paper appears to have solved the problem for me too.

Purchased an APPLE Battery Charger Kit ( complete with 3 pairs of batteries )  after reading advice from many others regarding battery sizes and magic mouse connection being lost . Someone ( don't recall the name ) suggested this because their connection problem was solved with APPLE rechargables .

^ Connection proble has been solved . Guessing it does not really matter how long a charge is held because kit includes 3 pairs of batteries at what I consider a decent price @ $30 CDN . ( Delivered within less than 36 hrs ! )

But seriously an already over price magic mouse needs a paper to fix a problem now I need to look back at China .

My 'magic mouse' has just started doing this.  Nothing has changed in my setup - the batteries I have used for 18 months (always worked before).  I cannot believe that the almighty Apple kit (over priced and over here) really needs bits of paper and cottonbuds to make it work.

    Laughable.

No... you are just holding it wrong.

Since I started using Energizer Ulitmate Lithium batteries, my cursor freeze issue went away.

Same problem - but its not just the magic mouse, its also my Maghic Trackpad that drops out.

Really Apple, is there ANYTHING you do right?

    I want my money back.

Oh no, its quite normal for anythng Apple to require jamming with bits of paper etc.

Go look at most of the "solutions" proposed by Apple ofr OSX. They involve going into Terminal.....

WHAT IS THE POINT of "it just works", mom and pop, easy to use products if you have to stuff paper in them or cut **** code to get them to work.

    Im disgusted with Apple.

Careful ross - don't say anything negative - the Apple supporters will shout you down.

I, absolutely agree with you.  My £1800 shiney iMac (my first foray into the over-hyped world of Apple) has been and is a nightmare.  A very poor OS, hardware and peripheral problems (I won't even go into iTunes!).

And yes, I have exactly the same problems as you.  For all the hype and high prices I expect things to just work, not needing to stuff bits of paper into the works or mess around with Terminal.  Takes me back to my DOS days.

So much for the world's most advanced software and hardware.  A joke.  Cue the Apple supporters

    Mike
