Apple doesn't take trades so you will need to sell your iPad and use the money to purchase a new one. Back it up to iCloud, and sync your data to your iCloud account (by turning the sync features on in Settings>iCloud, and when prompted, choosing Merge).
Then be sure to turn off iMessage in Settings>Messages, and FaceTime in Settings>FaceTime. Then erase the iPad by going to Settings>General>Reset and tapping Erase All Content and Settings. Then you can sell it..
When setting up your new iPad you will be given the option to restore to your iCloud backup, and to sign into your existing iCloud account, to transfer your data and settings back to your new iPad. It's also not a back idea to also manually back it up to your comptuer using iTunes by connecting it to your computer, clicking on the name of your iPad in iTunes, going to the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings, then clicking on Back Up Now under Manually Back Up and Restore.
