Jan 22, 2013 7:06 PM in response to bastiaenby Ric Getter,This came back to bite me when I had an issue with my iPhone 5 sync sessions hanging iTunes. I went through the steps for isolating the issue in http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3297 and found that when I pinged gs.apple.com, I would get one response and the rest would time out. This was happening on both my Mac Pro and a MacBook I had on my network (neither could succuessfuly restore the OS and both got the same 3014 error). To make matters more interesting, my troubleshooting with Apple involved trying a restore on my iPad, which failed and bricked it. It rebooted into the connect-me-to-iTunes screen.
I had a spare router on hand (I confess, I'm a geek) so I disconnected the Linksys BEFSR41 and then connected a cheap DLink EBR-2310 I bought when I was having some problems a couple of years ago (which turned out to be Comcast's fault). I got the router configured and was able to restore and synch both devices without an error.
The Linksys router is the latest hardware rev and had the most current firmware, so it was possibly a hardware issue. So one possible route for dealing with this is to try the restore on a different network (I realize that not many people keep spare routers at home).
FYI: I do have an AirPort, but I don't use it as a router but simply as a bridge. I figure it has enough to keep it busy with all the wireless devices we have here. I would like to find a really good wired router some day.

Jun 28, 2015 2:58 PM in response to bastiaenby rick88stone,for anyone that is still experiencing this issue (iphone 6 plus ios 8.3) I restored my windows network settings to default...
Click on Start button, all programs accessories and right click on "command prompt" select "run as administrator" At the prompt type:-
netsh int ip reset
and then press the Enter key. Restart the computer.
This solved it after many attempts at disabling firewall ect.. and reinstalling...
hope this helps someone..
