I've had my Ipod Classic about 5 years. I've been trying to upload audiobooks in Itunes and transfer to my Ipod. I can see the audiobooks in Itunes and when I try to sync to Ipod the books don't show up. I have audiobooks catagory on my Ipod. This newer version of Itunes is not as user friendly as previous ones. Is my Ipod outdated?  Any suggestions?

Do you have your iPod set sync or Manually Manage music?  If you sync, then click on the main level of your iPod when it's connected to iTunes (with the Sidebar open.  Ctrl + S) and on the top of the main screen in iTunes, you should have buttons for Summary, Music, Movies... Books.

Your audiobooks should show there and if you're syncing Selected Audiobooks, you should be able to pick an audiobook and then when you sync, it should show under Books in your iPod's Books and under Audiobooks in the iPod menu.

I’m sorry, but there are a number of things that could be going on.

There’s just a bunch of questions to ask, like:

Where did the audiobooks come from?  (the library,, iTunes, rip from CD?)

    Do they play in iTunes?

Is there some kind of license required to play them that’s expired?

    What is the file type/extension? (.mp3, m4a, m4b?)

I stopped using anything BUT mp3 audiobooks a while back to avoid the issues I was having.

I’ll be glad to help anyway I can.
