MacBook won't boot

I have thorougly messed up the permissions on my mac. I have just booted into ubuntu from a usb and was wondering if i could edit the mac HD permissions through ubuntu?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

    Have you tried booting to the original OS X disks that came with the MacBook, or to a retail version? Use Disk Utiity to repair permissions.

    Not familiar with Ubuntu, so can't helpt there. OS X 10.6 is available from the Apple online store for $20. You can call them, which in the US is 800-MY-APPLE or also can order online from them.
