Q: System not behaving per PM settings.
OK, so below are the PM settings on system. Explain to me why the system won't enter Standby after sleeping for 4200 seconds while the AC is plugged into it and clamshell is closed. To add insult to injury, also explain to me why when Standby is enabled why the system wakes up from sleep (or standby if it's already entered that) when the AC adapter is connected/disconnected from the system? When Standby is disabled, this "wakeup from sleep" behavior is not there. Someone with advanced PMSET knowledge explain this to me please. It makes no logical sense for the system to wake from sleep, especially standby, when the AC charger is connected or disconnected. The only logical reason for this to be happening would be for PM to switch modes and start its countdown again, but doesn't it seem counter-intuative to wake a system from standby (where it uses no power) when all the user wants to do is just connected it to power to charge and not actually use the system. Not only does it now take longer to charge the battery (because the system is powering the RAM to maintain the sleep image of the OS), but when the user disconnects power it'll wake up again and use about 2% of battery before it times out to 4200 seconds and enters standby. Had it remained in standby to begin with, the battery would have charged quicker and it also would have remained at 100% until the user finally decided to open it up and start using it. Anyone else think this sort of behavior is dumb as you know what? BTW, this is with 10.8.2 build 12C60. Let's not even talk yet about higher OS builds after that because anything above this build and Apple again has pooched it with further complicated PMSET changes that make even less sense. For the sake of conversation, let's just stick to the limitations of the settings below. Based on what I'm seeing, logic would tell me, Wake On AC Charge = No means it shouldn't do squat when I plug/unplug the AC adapter. Standby = 1 in both power profiles tells me that it should enter standby in both situations, yet it doesn't when it's plugged into power. How is that not a software bug?
