I am looking for an app that will monitor the local netowrk and show data useage per ip device.   A few look promising but fall short of grabbing the data numbers.  Is there such an app out there?  Free is good! but depending on the cost pay is fine too.

Thanks

Bill

Have you tried the Mac App Store??

That data is only available on the gateway. Either the gateway device itself would have to compile it, or you would have to enable SNMP on it and compile the data remotely.

I have to be sure that I am on a network hub vs a switch.  If its a hub I should be able to see and capture all the data in the ethernet interface.  A swich definetly works differently and would not be able to see all the data.  All I need is numbers too, not interested in packet sniffing really.

Packet sniffing is exactly what you're asking for. I don't know of any point-and-click sort of solution to do what you want. The closest would be Wireshark, but you won't find that easy to use.

I have Wireshark and you are correct, its not easy to use!  IT does have a wealth of info in it but I certainly was hoping for something simpler.  I recall way back in the OS 9 and before days there was an application that would do that - it wasn't free but would tally up data in/out per ip.   Wireshark it is then.  Read read read the user guide!
