I just bought two iomega eGo Portable Hard Drives (two for one special). On the box it says Firewire 800 / Firewire 400 / USB 2.0. They were sold on an 'as-is' basis, no refunds - but it was quite a bargin. Returning them is not an option.

I didn't notice that there is only one of each port meaning that I can't daisy chain with Firewire 800 cables. I suppose I could connect one to the Mac (iMac Late 2009) w/Firewire 800 and connect the two w/Firewire 400 - but I will be halving the throughput (I assume, am I right?) from the second drive. I could connect via USB2.0 (more ports on the iMac) but that is going to be slower as well.

Are there other options so I can connect two F800 to my iMac (one port as well). Hubs appear to be hard to come by and expensive.

Any other ideas/suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Mac OS X (10.7.5)

There was a reason they were so cheap, Two for One price. FW is Old Technology and just about to disappear completely, Not even included on New Mac computers (and it was Apple that started the FW connection system).

To answer your question. No there is not any other options.
